Frequently Asked Questions
Here’s everything else you might want to ask about getting your pets AHC:

Q: When should I book my AHC appointment?
A: I’d suggest booking at least 3 weeks before you travel. This gives your vet time to send over the vaccination details, and lets me get everything ready so it’s stress-free for you.

Q: My pet had a rabies booster — what do you need?
A: If your pet has had a booster, I’ll also need proof of their first rabies vaccination. This helps show their vaccination record is complete and valid.
.
Q: How far in advance do you need my paperwork?
A: For standard AHCs, I need all forms and documents at least 7 days before your appointment to check everything is correct.

Q: What if my vet hasn’t sent the records yet?
A: It’s up to you to contact your vet and give them permission to send the details to me. I can’t start the AHC until I’ve received everything I need.

Q: Do you offer Repeat AHCs?
A: Yes! If I issued your previous AHC and your pet’s rabies vaccination is still valid with no changes, I can do a Repeat AHC at a lower price.

Q: What if the registered owner isn’t travelling with the pet?
No problem at all! I need a signed letter from the registered owner and confirmation of who will be travelling with your pet.

Q: Can I still use my UK Pet Passport?
A: UK-issued pet passports are no longer valid for travel. You’ll need an Animal Health Certificate instead: Gov.uk guidance.

Q: Do pets need to enter the EU through a specific point?
A: Yes — pets must enter via an approved Travellers’ Point of Entry. You can find the full list here: EU approved points.

Q: How many pets can be included on one AHC?
A: You can include up to 5 pets on a single AHC, as long as they’re all owned by the same person.
Q: How long is an Animal Health Certificate valid for?
A: 10 days from issue to enter the EU, then 4 months for travelling within the EU (or until the rabies vaccine expires, whichever comes first)
